The tomatoes are still coming - in force! On April 21, I transplanted the teeny seedlings into 3' pots. (Pre-transplant is the first picture here) I had a total of 47 tomato seedlings and 5.5 romanesco broccoli for transplant at the time. Today? I have exactly the same number of each!
Hooray for seeding victory on my first-ever attempt at seeding indoors. I haven't lost a single plant since transplant. This is all very fine and good, but of course this means I have approximately 40 healthy plants that I don't have room to plant, or a need to plant for that matter. This also means that lots of family and friends will be eligible for inherited tomato plants plus a few broccoli.
Regarding the broccoli, in case you wonder - I count the seedlings as 5.5 since I accidentally sheered off all the leaves of one seedling at some point. I decided to try transplanting it anyway because it seemed to be growing. I'm not sure this is the case now, so probably I should start counting that one as a casualty. In any case, I'm pretty pleased with the progress.
The last two pictures here are all the seedlings immediately after completing the transplant, followed by the same plants and trays - just 8 days after transplant. Hooray for Mother Nature - she is pretty awesome!!
